Dr. Stanley G. Finn Music Enrichment and Discovery Fund
In addition to the fact that research is demonstrating an unmistakable link between music learning and academic achievement, research has also shown that music itself has the power to convey emotional meaning and connect people to one another. Children/youth who participate in early childhood and other music classes have a unique opportunity to grow socially and emotionally through the intimate connections they make as part of shared music experiences with parents, caregivers, teachers and peers.
Dr. Stanley G. Finn was an accomplished musician who dedicated his life to sharing his gift and many talents with others. During his life, Dr. Finn was able to influence many young lives through his love of music. The intent of this Fund is to honour the life and work of Dr. Stanley G. Finn by assisting disadvantaged children/youth in becoming involved in potential life enhancing experiences that will impact their lives through the “gift of music”.
Specifically, it is anticipated that the Dr. Stanley G. Finn “Gift of Music” Fund will support the following for disadvantaged children:
- The cost of early childhood music program involvement
- The cost of other music program/lesson involvement
- Provision of music instruments
- Funding support to not-for-profit music enrichment and therapy programs
